After graduating from college, Brian joined one of Canada’s largest banks and worked in consumer and commercial lending as well as retail branch management. He then went on to manage a credit union in Ontario and worked as a credit union auditor for the Ontario Share and Deposit Insurance Corporation.

With a long-time interest in small business and entrepreneurship, Brian turned his attention to the world of startups where he acted as CFO for soon to be internationally award-winning marketing agency and, a few years later an early stage Québec-based technology company that was eventually acquired by an international corporation.

In 2002, Brian joined the Canada Revenue Agency (formerly known as Revenue Canada) where spent the next 15 years in increasingly senior positions where we audited both personal income tax accounts and corporate sales tax reporting and compliance. With the emergence of new technologies including cloud-based accounting software, Brian decided to finally start his own business where he could once again work directly with entrepreneurs and small businesses.

In just a couple years Brian and KB Financial Solutions have quickly grown a client list in his home town of Ottawa, across Canada and in the USA and Australia. Brian has also developed an in-demand expertise in helping international online businesses (such as Amazon Resellers) set up, manage and report their sales taxes in Canada.

When not helping his clients, Brian travels with his wife Kit and volunteers his time, serving as the treasurer of his condominium board as well as a local housing cooperative, and preparing tax returns for residents of the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre.

Before forming KB Financial Solutions in 2017, Brian McGill enjoyed a diverse career in banking and credit unions, as the senior financial executive in two startups, and as an income and sales tax auditor for Canada’s equivalent to the Internal Revenue Service in the US.
